The estate

Vicarage Gardens is four acres of garden and woodland around the old parsonage in Carrington, right on the edge of open countryside. Alongside the two pods, the grounds are home to a handful of small but mighty independent ventures: Nebula Centre, running events, parties, forest school and alternative education from the Coachhouse; Broaden, who built their film-making studio in a converted shipping container on site; and Nightgarden Festival, Vicarage Gardens' own summer festival of live music, art and entertainment. Soon they'll be joined by Carrington Community Cinema, opening in the old chapel. Expect birdsong, bluebells in spring, and the occasional goat.

Spaces for hire

Bluebell and Foxglove are two insulated garden pods, set apart from one another in the trees — private, quiet and warm, with free on-site parking. Popular with counsellors and therapists, but just as suited to one-to-one meetings or a change of scene for remote working. Both hire by the hour and both book instantly.

Bluebell

The original pod, set just off the boardwalk under the beech trees. Insulated, heated and wired for power, with a proper door that shuts out everything else.

Foxglove

Added when Bluebell alone couldn't keep up with demand. A few steps further into the woodland, with the same warm, timber-lined interior and its own front door.

The pods sit inside four acres of garden and mature woodland around The Old Vicarage, next to St George's Church on Manchester Road — parsonage grounds since long before the pods arrived.

Carrington Community Cinema

Funding is in place to bring community cinema back to St George's Chapel, the Grade 2* listed church on site — proper film nights, in a building that's sat quiet for years. Dates are still being set; the fastest way to hear first is to drop us a line.
